A transmission of wisdom and transcendence through an encounter with seven ancient Chinese medical manuscripts. Ancient Healing: Sex, Soul, and Substance is a course about metamorphosis. In the realms of magical and mythical consciousness—vital forces at play during the time that these ancient medical manuscripts were compiled and scribed—the binary distinctions of mental consciousness were not yet at play. It was a time when spirit and matter, birth and death, health, sex and the 'culminant way,' meditative breath work, elixirs, and QiGong were all intertwined. And ALL were under the purview of the ancient healer or physician. Ancient Healing illuminates the wonders found in the Mawangdui tombs including seven previously unknown medical manuscripts that pre-date the Huangdi Neijing by some 100-200 years. The course explores these ancient texts and the consciousness states that prevailed when they were written. The medical manuscripts give new meaning to health and healthy living, expand the scope of Chinese medicine, provide new thoughts about treating fertility, invite us to revisit our intent and purpose as healing practitioners, and discuss clinical applications that stem directly from the wisdom contained in the manuscripts. This course consists of twelve pre-recorded mini-lectures, each 10 to 20 minutes long. Each video lecture is artistically and beautifully rendered to make the course enjoyable, informative, and easy to digest. All lectures are accompanied by readings that support, reiterate, and further elucidate their content. Clinical applications that stem from each portion of the course are provided. You are also given space to reflect upon questions that will take you deeper into the wisdom of the tombs, their mesmerizing artifacts, and their insightful and illuminating texts.
